Frequently Asked Questions
Last updated: October 27, 2026
General
Is astonish·ly religious?
Our posts focus on aspects of nature and the universe that point to a Creator. Most posts mention God in some way, often with names such as Designer, Creator, or Master Engineer. Readers of every background are welcome to enjoy the app.
Is astonish·ly available in multiple languages?
Yes. You can switch between English and Spanish anytime in Settings.
Can I read the daily posts on the website?
Daily posts and your library of past posts are available only in the app.
Are the posts appropriate for kids?
Yes. Every post comes in an adult version and a kids version written for readers about ages 8 to 12. Everyone can read both versions.
Plans & Pricing
Can I try it before paying?
Yes. Download the app to read our 3 Welcome posts, no account needed. Creating a free account (age 13 or older) gives you a new post every day for your first 10 days, then two new posts each week. Paid plans give you a new post every day and your full library of past posts.
What plans do you offer?
Free and Individual plans are for one person on up to 2 phones or tablets. Individual is billed monthly or yearly. The Family plan is billed yearly and covers up to 6 devices in total, shared by you and your family in any mix. Current prices are shown in the app.
What if I reach my device limit?
You can sign out an old device from the app. A device that hasn't opened the app in 60 days frees up its spot automatically.
Are there ads?
No. The app has no ads today, and paid plans are always ad-free.
Can I upgrade from Individual to Family?
Yes, from the app. The App Store or Google Play handles the change, including any credit for time left on your current plan.
What happens if I cancel?
Manage or cancel your plan in the store where you bought it (Apple App Store or Google Play). Deleting the app or your account does not cancel your subscription. You keep paid access until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account moves to the Free plan: you keep your place, new posts arrive on the Free schedule, and paid posts in your library are locked. Subscribe again anytime and your full library unlocks right away.
Will I have to start over if I cancel and come back?
No. As long as you keep your account, you keep your place and your library. If you delete your account, everything is permanently removed, including your place. If you start a new account later, contact us and we'll do our best to help you pick up where you left off.
Families & Groups
How do family members join?
After buying a Family plan, open the Family screen in the app and share your invite link. Family members 13 or older tap the link and sign in or create their own free account, wherever they live. Their devices count toward the plan's 6 devices.
How do kids under 13 use the app?
A parent installs the app on the child's device and signs in with the parent's own account. The device counts toward your plan's device limit, and the child sees the same posts as the parent. We don't collect any information about the child.
Can my family read the same post each day?
Yes. Family members with their own account can turn on “Match my family” in Settings to get the same daily post as the plan owner. From then on, those posts are added to their library. They don't receive the plan owner's earlier posts. They can switch back anytime without losing any posts in their library, and they'll continue from where they left off.
What happens if someone leaves the Family plan?
The plan owner can remove a member anytime, which frees up that member's devices. The member moves to the Free plan and keeps their place. The same happens for everyone if the Family plan ends.
Need more than 6 devices?
Add a separate Individual or Family plan. If you'd like everyone to share the same daily post, just email us and we'll gladly link them.
Is there a discount for groups?
Churches, schools, ministries and other groups of 10 or more can email us at hello@astonishly.com about a group discount.
Your Account & Devices
I switched from iPhone to Android (or the reverse). Do I lose my plan?
No. Sign in with the same account and your plan keeps working. Manage or cancel it in the store where you first bought it.
How do I get my plan on a new phone?
Sign in with your email and password. If your plan doesn't appear, tap “Restore purchases” in Settings while signed in to the same Apple or Google account you used to subscribe.
Privacy & Security
What information does astonish·ly collect?
Only what we need to run the app: your email address and password, your plan status, your place in the posts and your library, the devices you're signed in on, and, if you turn on reminders, a notification token. Family plans also store who belongs to the family. We don't ask for your name, location, or contacts.
Why do you ask for my month and year of birth?
Only to confirm you're old enough to create an account. It's checked on your device and is never sent to us or saved.
Do you collect my child's information?
No. You must be 13 or older to create an account. Children under 13 use the app on their own device through a parent's account, and we collect nothing about them. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we'll delete it. Questions? Email hello@astonishly.com.
Do you sell or share my information?
We never sell your information, and we never share it with advertisers or data brokers. We use a few trusted service providers to run the app (for hosting, accounts, subscriptions and notifications), and they handle your data only to provide those services. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
How is my password protected?
Your password is stored in a protected, scrambled form, so no one on our team can read it. If you forget it, you can reset it using your email address.
How are payments handled?
Subscriptions are processed by Apple and Google. We never see or store your card number or other payment details.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app, go to Settings and choose Delete account, or visit astonishly.com/delete-account. We permanently delete your email, password, place in the posts, library, family membership, devices and notification tokens. Deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription, so cancel it first in the App Store or Google Play.
Where can I find your Privacy Policy and Terms of Use?
In the app under Settings, or on this site: Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
