astonish·ly was founded by Ken and Frank. Decades ago, both of us were taught in high school that cells were simple things — a nucleus floating in a bit of jelly. That was already outdated by the time we learned it; scientists had discovered the staggering complexity of the cell years earlier. We were taught yesterday's science.

Fast-forward to today, and researchers have uncovered so much more about how the world and universe work — the intricacy of DNA, the fine-tuning of physical constants, the strange and specific properties of water, and many others. In our opinion, choosing NOT to believe in a Creator now takes much more faith than believing in one.

In 2026, Ken began to teach his teenage daughter some of the astonishing things he had learned through his studies. It was out of those conversations that the idea for an astonish·ly app was born.

There are already many wonderful books that make the case for design in creation. What we felt was missing was a single short read, once a day, drawn from the thousands of astonishing details woven into the created world. Don't worry: we won't run out of material anytime soon!

We hope that astonish·ly leaves you as astonished as we are, as we dig into the details together of how the created world and universe actually operate.
